#### Task

Grade 10 math students were given an interesting problem to solve. Without the help of predetermined procedures or formulas, students were charged with looking for mathematical patterns and relationships. As they collaboratively worked through the problem, they began to come up with conjectures and generalizations. Students were expected to use collaboratively built assessment criteria in order to guide their learning and effectively communicate their understanding to others.
