Task
In this grade 6 discipline-based inquiry, students were tasked with taking under-circulated books from the school’s library and completely revamping them in order to encourage more students to choose these books to read. By mirroring the processes that an author would go through, students carefully and thoughtfully recreated new stories that played off of the original. Using exemplars and formative assessment to guide their work throughout the process, students were deeply engaged in the writing process and successfully reintroduced their books to the school library for circulation.
