Task: Through careful and intentional task design, Grade 8 students were given the opportunity to engage in an authentic approach to Science that closely mirrored the work of a Chemist. This discipline-based task challenged students to design a new non-toxic stain remover that would work effectively on a variety of stains and fabrics. This engaging task required that students follow the same processes that someone working in this field would follow. Assessment for learning helped to deepen student learning throughout the duration of the task.
