Technology and Teaching

Galileo and Alberta Education’s Partnership for Kindergarten to Grade 4 Students

Digital cameras, mind mapping software and iPads – these are not mere technological tools, but starting points for early elementary students who are exploring critical questions about their world.

Thanks to a partnership between Galileo Educational Network and Alberta Education, teachers from four different school districts are designing experiences that foster deeper, more effective learning for Kindergarten to Grade 4 students. Educators from Calgary and Edmonton Catholic, Rocky View Schools and St. Paul Regional Division also gather to share and critically reflect on each classroom project, which can range from using motion detectors to capture an animal passing through a playground, to recording video stories of childhood memories.
