Douglas Thomas


A professor at the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism at the University of Southern California, Douglas Thomas is known for his research on the intersections of technology and culture. He also studies gamers and gamer culture, designing several video games, including one based on a retelling of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, which analyzes ethical decision making in the world of science and technology. Thomas is also a founding member of the Critical and Cultural Studies division on the National Communication Association and he serves on the advisory board for the Research Center for Cyberculture Studies at the University of Washington. He has testified before the US congress on issues of computer hacking and cyber terrorism.
