Designing as Engineers: Thermodynamics

Grade Level: Div. 4

Task: In order to engage students in developing a deep understanding the laws of thermodynamics, these grade 10s were given a challenge of building a thermos that would conserve the energy of hot water. Students worked through the same processes as engineers in order to design, construct, test, and tweak their models.
