Writing With Purpose: Intellectual Engagement in Grade 2

Task

In this grade 2 task, students were invited to design and write a postcard from a place in and around their community.  Students superimposed images of themselves at these various locations and then wrote compelling letters to family’s on the back of their postcards.  The letters included pertinent information about the location, as well as other details they wanted to include.  Before sending the postcards home to their parents, the teacher compiled the images and writing into a class coffee table book so that students could continue to read their collaboratively written book.
