Assessment is an ongoing process, where children’s learning is documented over time and over many different situations. Determining a child’s interests and strengths, and building towards individual milestones is an important part of assessment.

Parents can ask the following questions when looking for an early learning environment:

  • Does your child have opportunities to articulate their own learning / understanding, and are there opportunities for children to initiate projects based on their own interests?
  • Are there interesting and unusual objects brought into the classroom? Are there plenty of opportunities for social and individual play?
