Assessment criteria collaboratively designed with students is meaningful and helps guide learning and self-regulation. This is an important foundation for all learning.
Using a red-yellow-green light model, students and their teacher at the Entre-Amis Preschool determined appropriate and inappropriate classroom behaviour. The children practiced how to show certain feelings and actions. Then they took photographs to post in the classroom that explain visually the criteria. Posting their own pictures helped the children to understand what it looks like when they include others in their play, and when they clean up after themselves.
